This entrance (left) to the Abbey site is next to the Domus, described on a later page, and leads to an area near the kitchen. The local buildings are shown in the two pictures below.



The wall next to the Refectory (now the Parish Church) shown in the picture above and below was part of the Warming Room. On the wall one can see the remains of the wash basins or lavatoria where the choir monks washed their hands before going to eat. Next to them is the entrance to the former Warming House, the only heated room in the Abbey.

The blocked-off steps now going nowhere in the south-east corner at the end of the wall would once have led to the choir monks' dormitory or sleeping area.
